The winner of the G2 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park is the undefeated filly Millionreasonswhy, owned by Sagamore Farm and bred by Tom Evans, Tenlane Farm, and Oratis.

The bay filly is by the Gone West stallion Grand Slam out of the AP Indy mare In Secure. This is a lovely family developed in the Greentree Stud of the Whitney family, and this filly has plenty of potential. So far, she has done all that has been asked of her, winning both her starts.

Seventh dam Bourtai spent time in the Claiborne Farm broodmare band, where she produced Broodmares of the Year in Delta and Levee, among other good stock. Sixth dam Banta (Some Chance) produced fifth dam Golden Sari (Ambiorix) for Elmendorf. Elmendorf bred the good Prince John horse Selari from Golden Sari, and then Greentree got Royal Folly (Tom Fool) from the same mare.

For Greentree, Royal Folly produced Louisiana Derby winner Prince Valiant (Stage Door Johnny) and stakes winner Majestic Folly, a daughter of Alydar who is the third dam of Millionreasonswhy.

The stakes-winning second dam, Morelia (by Deputy Minister), was bred by Mrs John Hay Whitney, and the filly’s dam, stakes-winning In Secure, was bred by Louie Roussel III.

This relatively young mare has already produced two stakes winners, and her complete produce record follows:
