The dynamics of success in breeding are elusive, to say the least. Few would have predicted great things for the Mister Frisky mare Brandon’s Ride, but she is now the dam of two stakes winners, including G1 winner Toby’s Corner, who won the Wood Memorial on Saturday.

Her produce record follows:

1st Dam: Brandon’s Ride, dkbbr, 1996. Bred by Diane D. Cotter (FL). Raced 2 yrs in NA, 6 sts, 1 win, $17,260 (ssi = 1.27).

2003: BUSHMILLS BEST, dk b/ c, by Concerto. Raced 6 yrs in NA, 20 sts, 4 wins, $137,279 (ssi = 2.61). Won OBS Championship S. (C & G) (R). ($55,000, 2005, obsjun, 2yo)
2004: No record.
2005: Lord Willing, g, by Mecke. Raced 4 yrs in NA, 42 sts, 8 wins, $88,120 (ssi = 0.73). ($19,000, 2007, obsapr, 2yo)
2006: Taylors Irish, dkbbr f, by Drewman. Raced 3 yrs in NA, 26 sts, 4 wins, $93,537 (ssi = 1.41). ($27,000, 2008, obsapr, 2yo)
2007: Tuff Tuc, b f, by Concerto. Unraced in NA, Eng, and Fr.
2008: TOBY’S CORNER, ch c, by Bellamy Road.
At 3: Won Wood Mem S. (gr. 1), Whirlaway S.; 3rd Gotham S. (gr. 3).

Brandon’s Ride is by Mister Frisky out of the Restivo mare Mrs Bumble (a foal of 1983). A winner three times, Mrs Bumble produced no stakes winners and there are no stakes winners in this direct female line till the fifth dam.
