Afleet Express (2007 b by Afleet Alex x Expanse, by Distant View)

Gainesway $10,000

A long, tall drink of water, Afleet Express is one expression of the type of stock that his sire, multiple classic winner Afleet Alex, is throwing.

The stallion is, on the one hand, getting quite a number of sizable individuals with considerable scope that mature very well and improve with more and more distance. That is Afleet Express, and his loss from the 4-year-old division is a blow to the competition at the top level this year.

As the winner of the 2010 Travers, Afleet Express had really good form and proven stamina. All that was required was continued strengthening, and he would have made a very serious competitor in the older division this year that is decimated from the loss of Blame, Quality Road, Lookin at Lucky, Super Saver, and others.

All that is moot, however, and the dark bay will take his place at stud.

As a breeding prospect, Afleet Express brings proven stamina. He also possesses very good size, standing 16.1 1/2 hands, and has good bone. There is a lot of daylight under the colt, who will furnish out into a much more imposing individual in the coming months.

Mated with nicer, medium-sized mares possessing some speed, but not little dumpy things, Afleet Express should have some potential to sire good stock that can capitalize on his own strengths.
