In a story by Dede Biles, published at the Blood-Horse website, Lane’s End Farm owner Will Farish said that leading international sire Kingmambo is likely to be pensioned for the 2011 breeding season.
The reason, Farish noted, was not infertility but physical discomfort from a neck problem that has been troubling the son of Mr Prospector and Miesque for years.
Kingmambo, winner of the Poule d’Essai des Poulains, has been the sire of numerous top-class racers in the US and abroad. The best of the domestic runners is no doubt Lemon Drop Kid, who has proven a good sire at Lane’s End, where both horses stand.
In addition, Kingmambo has sired such major winners as Divine Proportions (BC Mile), Alkaased (Japan Cup), Henrythenavigator, King Kamehameha, El Condor Pasa, Archipenko, King’s Best, and Russian Rhythm.
