Larry Keeling, columnist for the Lexington Herald-Leader, unravels the delaying tactics currently being used by the state Republican party in Kentucky (click here).

Apparently, and this is my interpretation, they want  to hold racing hostage in a terrorist-style plot that uses slots to 1) raise more money for their party, 2) get more Republicans elected by religious right-wingers by bringing them out to vote against slots at the polls in ravenous hordes, and 3) effectively finish off the horse business in Kentucky.

Wouldn’t that be a lovely scenario? Then the only widely distributed industries left in Kentucky would be …. 1) state government, 2) state universities, and 3) growing pot.
